On the second day of the XXIX International Seminar on Parties and a New Society, held in Mexico City, Jorge Hurtado Pérez, the rector of the University of the Communist Party of Cuba "Ñico López", participated.
In his speech, he examined the complex global situation, characterized by armed conflicts driven by imperialist agendas, and warned about the gradual decline of multilateralism, a development he said poses a grave risk to global peace.
The academic expressed Cuba's strongest solidarity with Venezuela's Bolivarian Revolution, emphasizing the critical need to defend peace and the integrity of the peoples. He also condemned the genocide of the Palestinian people by the Zionist regime of Israel and its allies.
Hurtado Pérez also denounced the effects of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government on Cuba for over sixty years. He characterized it as a criminal policy and identified it as the primary barrier to the island's development. Additionally, he condemned the country's unjust and unlawful inclusion on the list of states allegedly sponsoring terrorism.
"Given the magnitude of the challenges facing the international community today," he said, "it is imperative to build an open and inclusive system, where peace, security and prosperity prevail."
