Declaration of the Communist Party of Cuba, translated from the Spanish
The Communist Party of Cuba condemns, in the strongest terms, the escalation of aggression by the fascist government of the United States against the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its legitimate president Nicolás Maduro Moros.
The aggressive deployment of American imperialist military forces in the Caribbean Sea blatantly violates International Law and the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace. This action reveals the government's intention to reassert the Monroe Doctrine in our region and demonstrates a complete disregard for the sovereignty and self-determination of our nations.
The unfounded U.S. accusation of connecting the Venezuelan government and its constitutionally elected President with criminal groups involved in illegal drug trafficking; the recent attack and unlawful capture of a ship carrying Venezuelan oil by Washington's military; the total and complete blockade of oil vessels entering and exiting the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela; and its arbitrary labeling of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela as an international terrorist organization, represent perilous actions deliberately orchestrated to justify interventionist ambitions and U.S. dominance.
In this challenging situation for the homeland of the Liberator Simón Bolívar and Commander Hugo Chávez, as well as for the entire Latin American and Caribbean region, the Communist Party of Cuba reaffirms its steadfast support and solidarity with the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), its national leadership and members, along with the popular, military, and police fusion led by President Nicolás Maduro.
We call on parties, social movements, and progressive political forces on the left to unite and raise our voices in condemning and calling for an end to the increasing aggression by the U.S. government towards Venezuela.
We are convinced that the unity, determination, and bravery of the Venezuelan people and their leaders will triumph over the despicable neo-colonial ambitions of the White House and we emphatically echo the words of our National Hero, José Martí, from July 1881, which encapsulate our dedication to the Bolivarian nation: "Give me Venezuela in which to serve her: she has a son in me."
