Comrades,

On behalf of the Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS) and the working class of our country, I hereby convey revolutionary greetings to the Communist Party of Cuba, the host of the 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties.

We also greet the revolutionary organisations convening on this momentous occasion and support the calls for international unity against imperialism and for peace. We applaud the Working Group, which has worked tirelessly to ensure that this meeting is convened, as well as their work in fostering unity and progress among our organisations.

The 24th International Meeting is held under the theme “Defending and honouring the legacy of the Cuban Revolution on the centenary of Fidel’s birth; deepening solidarity with socialist Cuba; strengthening our joint actions; and uniting our forces for peace and against imperialist aggression.”

This theme is apposite, considering the dire situation that the people of the world find themselves in right now, not least the worsening blockade of Cuba as led by the leader of imperialism, the US.

The Cuban Revolution remains a great inspiration to the billions of people across the world, particularly those still waging liberation struggles, whether against colonialism or neocolonialism or other forms of oppression. The Revolution continues to empower the Cuban people while at the same time resisting US imperialism. The US blockade of Cuba, now worsened under the Trump administration, is anathema to the basic tenets of humanity and a flagrant violation of international law.

We support the political and economic measures being undertaken by the Cuban people and government as they seek to respond and adapt following the unprecedented US government’s coercive measures against Cuba, including leading the interruption of fuel supplies and all sources of foreign currency revenue, affecting the daily lives of the Cuban people.

As the people of Swaziland continue the fight against the absolute monarchy, we draw lessons on the strategy and tactics of the Cuban Revolution. The Cuban Revolution has demonstrated that a determined people can remove an oppressive regime, no matter how formidable, if they are united and are guided by the most advanced revolutionary theory. The Revolution did not only remove a tyrant that was backed by the leader of imperialism but also placed practical measures to improve the lives of the Cuban people. This was achieved through the provision of free and quality education, health and housing, among other measures.

As the CPS, we continue to run cadreship schools in our country and within our Party, and in that regard have managed to improve our people’s theoretical and political grounding while also increasing our Party’s influence on the population. We fight for democracy in our country where the absolute monarch has ruled since 12 April 1973. We demand the unconditional unbanning of all political parties, the release of all political prisoners, and the return of political exiles. We fight for people’s power under a democratic republic.

Honouring internationalist par excellence, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro

The 24th International Meeting is historical, as it is held to also mark the centennial birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. Commander Fidel’s contribution to the world is not limited to Cuba. His untiring efforts, alongside the Cuban people, contributed in no small measure to the liberation of the African people against colonial subjugation. His theoretical analysis as the world evolved helped to inspire the working class across the world to continuously advance themselves.

In honouring Commander Fidel, we cannot forget the Cuban people’s international solidarity through the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade. The Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade has saved more than 93,000 lives worldwide since its formation in 2005.

We reaffirm the founding principles of the Henry Reeve Brigade: that health is a human right; human beings have the right to peace and life; and there is affirmation of human dignity, equality and social justice. We also reaffirm the sanctity of collaboration and respect between peoples regardless of politics, race, or religion.

Solidarity with the people of Palestine

As the CPS, we join the organisation in the IMCWP in condemning the continued occupation of Palestine by the Zionist Israeli settler regime and reiterate our solidarity with the people of Palestine in their liberation struggle. We also condemn the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza. Since October 2023, Israel has murdered about 75,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including about 21,000 children. We also support the Palestinian people’s right to resist the occupation by any means available to them.

We reiterate our call to the peace-loving people across the world for the international isolation of the Israeli settler regime. We call for the support of international organisations that are involved in campaigns for the boycott and sanctions of Israel.

Decisive moment against imperialism

As the revolutionary forces against imperialism, we have a duty to unite our forces for justice and peace against imperialism. We stand against the NATO imperialist activities in Ukraine.

We also reiterate our support for the One China policy and stand against the imperialist machinations which seek to divide the Chinese people. The people of Swaziland seek to build political, diplomatic and economic relations with the People’s Republic of China and stand against the use of Taiwan to subjugate them as a colony. Likewise, we also support the reunification of Korea as one people.

Down with imperialism!

Long live Socialist Cuba!

Forward to a socialist world!

Communist Regards
