A MESSAGE FROM PEOPLE OF FREEDOM FROM WAR COALITION

The Freedom from War Coalition is actively preparing for a summer focused on rallying opposition to the presence of a U.S. base on our Vancouver Island—a facility used for testing weapons that will ultimately be used against people around the world. We have a responsibility to both our global community and our local one to remove this intrusion by an aggressive foreign power from our home.

To this end, we will stage an information event at the Nanoose Bay rest stop located on BC 19/TransCanada HWY starting (Location QR code below)

This date coincides with the opening of the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, where President Trump will be welcomed by leaders we once trusted for security. We must ask: what are their intentions and who do they really stand with?

Over the years, Nanoose Bay and the CFMETR have received considerable attention, and during the 80s and 90s, there was an upsurge of concern and resistance to what amounts to a foreign military presence on our island. However, in the last few decades, that sense of unease has significantly diminished and many people have forgotten the testing range is even there—something that benefits those who support its mission.

This may suit some but it does not serve the best interests of our people and our Island, particularly the Indigenous community. That is an understatement!

We are not protesting—we are calling on communities across the Island to demand action from all levels of government to do the right thing and respond to the threats of annexation by the US regime with this powerful message. The presence of this base is not just a political issue—it is a moral one.

The people of Canada are at risk from a dangerous and lethal force. Join us there to build the work and defend the very ground we need upon which to build a better Canada?

LET'S RISE TO THE CHALLENGE!
