We have looked at a couple of Better Homes and Gardens vintage cookbooks before, but their 1973 Homemade Bread Cook Book is one that has aged very well. Many of the techniques and recipes are classic and have not changed much in decades.
Homemade bread became something of a craze in 2020 with the pandemic shutdowns, but it has always been popular with people who want bread that is healthier and tastier than the often bland fare on offer at most supermarkets.
This cookbook covers all the basics -- like making "perfect" white bread or takes on Potato Bread and Banana Bread -- but also looks at making rolls, muffins, biscuits, coffee cakes, sourdoughs, bagels, doughnuts, etc.
It is a really good all-purpose bread and baking cookbook and we look at a cross-section of some of the 100 recipes it contains.
