Indian, Turkish and Greek Communists denounce Israeli attacks on Iran

Communist parties in India, Turkey and Greece are denouncing the utterly illegal and unprovoked military attacks on Iran by Israel over the last 24 hours.

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

Halt Israel's Attack on Iran

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly denounces the Israeli attack on Iran and demands an immediate halt to the ongoing military operations.

This act once again demonstrates that Israel is behaving like a rogue state, launching attacks on countries in West Asia at will and violating international laws and conventions.

Israel has carried out a series of strikes against Iran, resulting in the deaths of senior nuclear scientists, army generals, and numerous civilians.

Statements from Israeli officials suggest that this assault was planned months in advance. The objective appears to be the assertion of Israel's hegemony over the entire West Asian region. Regardless of official US pronouncements, it is evident that such an operation would not have been possible without American support-either tacit or direct. Without this backing, Israel would neither have the confidence nor the capacity to carry out such aggressive military action.

It is a well-known fact that Israel possesses nuclear weapons and seeks to prevent other countries in the region from developing nuclear technology, even for peaceful purposes. This attack, occurring amidst ongoing negotiations with Iran on nuclear issues, is likely to spark a broader regional conflict and plunge West Asia into deeper instability. For the past 20 months, Israel has been carrying out a genocidal war against Palestine.

Now, with this attack on Iran, it is clear that Israel seeks to eliminate any potential challenge to its dominance in the region.

The international community led by the United Nations, must intervene without delay to restrain Israel's aggression. The Government of India must add its voice to the global condemnation of this attack and actively urge Israel to cease its military operations immediately.

It is highly deplorable that India chose to abstain from voting in support of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly yesterday. Such actions only serve to embolden Israel and its continued aggression in the region.

India has long-standing relations with both Iran and Palestine, which need to be respected and strengthened. The BJP-led Government must end its tacit support for Israel and take a clear stand for peace and justice in West Asia.

CPI Condemns Israeli Air Strike on Iran

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued today (June 13, 2025) the following statement:

The Communist Party of India strongly condemns the Israeli air strike on Iran, which is a dangerous escalation with far-reaching consequences for regional and global peace. This unprovoked act of aggression not only violates international law and Iran’s sovereignty, but also threatens to ignite a broader conflict in West Asia. Israel’s repeated militaristic actions, emboldened by support from US and other imperialist powers, are pushing the entire region into deeper instability and insecurity.

The CPI firmly stands against all forms of aggression and war-mongering. We call upon the international community, especially the United Nations, to take immediate steps to restrain Israel and ensure accountability for such acts of violence. The Indian government must break its silence and condemn this attack unequivocally, aligning with our long-standing foreign policy based on non-alignment, peace, and respect for sovereignty.

Communist Party of Turkey (TKP): Israeli Aggression Has Become a Major Threat to the World and Our Region

Israel, which has occupied Palestinian territories for decades and has been committing genocide in Gaza for nearly two years, has once again shown that it recognizes no limits to its aggression. This morning, it launched airstrikes across several parts of Iran, including Tehran, Tabriz, and Natanz. The attack resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking military officials—including the Iranian Chief of Staff—as well as scientists and civilians.

Israel’s recklessness cannot be explained by military power alone. This aggression is emboldened by the explicit or tacit support of numerous countries. It is a process openly supported by the United States and Western imperialist powers, with Turkey and several other Middle Eastern countries also complicit. What we are witnessing is a calculated attempt to crush the resistance of the region’s peoples and to turn the Middle East into a new, even more brutal, zone of exploitation and plunder. Israel embodies the most ruthless and unrestrained face of this barbarism—but it is not alone. Other imperialist powers and AKP-led Turkey also seek to profit from this pillage.

Israel’s attack on Iran is a blatant act of warmongering. It is part of a broader imperialist agenda to redivide the Middle East in line with the strategic and economic interests of imperialist powers. This aggression must be stopped. But to do so, the imperialist plans that fuel and sustain such violence must first be confronted and dismantled. Being a part of or a partner in this process means becoming complicit in the war, brutality, and grave crimes enforced by Israel.

THE Communist Party of Greece (KKE) on Israel's Attack on Iran

Israel’s attack on Iran threatens the peoples of the region with disaster. Now that the danger of the country’s involvement is growing, the people must intensify their struggle

In a statement on Israel’s attack on Iran, the Press Office of the CC of the KKE notes the following:

“Israel’s planned and targeted air and missile attack on Iran, resulting in the deaths of Iranian officials, nuclear scientists and hundreds of civilians, is fuelling the flames of war in the Middle East and threatening the peoples of the wider region with disaster. The attack was carried out under the pretext of Iran’s nuclear programme, but its real aim is to impose the imperialist plans of Israel and the USA on the wider region.

The murderous Israeli state is committing genocide against the Palestinian people, killing them en masse and condemning them to starvation. It is bombing Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, and is now escalating its attacks on Iran. The USA and the EU are supporting this state militarily, politically and economically, and are therefore complicit and jointly responsible.

The New Democracy government bears heavy responsibility, as do the bourgeois parties that cover up the criminal role of the Israeli state in the name of the right to self-defence, while consistently supporting our country’s military cooperation with a terrorist state. Moreover, it is well known that some of the joint military exercises between Greece and Israel involve scenarios and simulations of an attack on Iran.

Now that the risk of our country becoming embroiled in military adventures is growing, our people must intensify their struggle. They must demand that the Greek government immediately severs its military, political and economic relations with the murderous state of Israel and recognizes the Palestinian state. They should express even greater their solidarity with the Palestinian people as well as the peoples of Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and the entire region.”
