KPP condemns the US accusation against the Army General Raul Castro Ruz

The Communist Party of Poland strongly condemns activities of the United States Department of Justice, that on 20th of May announced despicable accusation against the Army General Raul Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution.

This accusation is baseless and politically motivated. It is an element of the anti-Cuban campaign conducted by the US authorities.

The charges relate to the alleged role of Raul Casto in the shooting down in 1996 of two planes operated by the Miami based group Brothers to the Rescue. This group led by the CIA trained individuals, conducted several acts of aggression against the Republic of Cuba. Its actions were based on provocations and violations of the sovereignity of Cuba. In February 1996 two of their airplnes entered the Cuban airspace as a part of one of the provocations. Despite warnings they refused to change direction. It was not the first example of such activities. Between 1994 and 1996 more than 25 violations of the Cuban airspace were reported to the State Department or the US Federal Administration of Aviation and the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Shooting down of the airplanes operated by the provocateurs was thus the legitimate act of self-defence.

We demand the immediate withdrawal of all the charges against Raul Castro. Cuba has a right to sovereignty and self-defence. We oppose the hostile acts conducted by Donald Trump's administration and denounce his threats towards Cuba.
