Lebanese Communists launch campaign in solidarity with Jordanian comrades

The Lebanese Communist Party has launched a petition and solidarity campaign in support of imprisoned comrades in Jordan. They are calling on people to sign on and spread word about this ongoing issue.

The situation of our comrades in Jordan is becoming critical as members of the leadership of the party have been under abrupt detention for 65 days. We need to raise attention on this matter, get it covered in the media and put pressure on the Jordanian government to release the detained and stop its detentions and campaigns against the communists.

We, the undersigned individuals and organizations, call on the Jordanian authorities to immediately release Dr. Omar Emile Awad (member of the Political Bureau) and Bahaa Alayan (member of the Youth Leadership) of the Jordanian Communist Party.

More than 65 days have passed since their abrupt detention, which has taken place without any legal jurisdiction and through a highly opaque process aimed solely at silencing the patriotic left-wing voice in the country that was campaigning in solidarity with Palestine.

We call on all international organizations to raise this issue in all international bodies, and we urge the Jordanian government to grant their immediate release.
