The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) reports that on December 7, 2025, mass demonstrations in solidarity with Greek farmers took place in Athens and Thessaloniki, organized by workers’ unions. Student unions and other mass organizations also participated.
In Athens, the rally took place outside the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, where those gathered emphasized that workers and toiling farmers are united against the anti-people policies of the government, the EU and capital.
Speaking at the rally, Vasilis Stamoulis, president of the Federation of Milk–Food–Beverage Workers, saluted the toiling farmers, who are determined to block the policies of the government, the EU, and the monopoly groups, and emphasized that the workers stand by their side and demand that their just demands must be met.
He noted that the monopoly groups’ thirst for profit is the reason why workers are sacrificed on the altar of profit, working for meagre wages and with their rights trampled. The same policy, through the CAP, hands over the land to capital and impoverishes poor farmers.
Among other things, he stressed that the way out is to strengthen the joint struggle and the alliance against big business, the EU, and governments, putting our needs first. “A joint struggle to overturn the barbarity we are experiencing and the worst they are preparing for the people”, he noted.
