The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) reports that on Friday October 10, trade unions and other mass organizations held a rally in solidarity with the Palestinian people outside the Israeli embassy, following a call by the All Workers’ Militant Front (PAME).
Thousands of protesters called for an intensification of the struggle for an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with territorial continuity and East Jerusalem as its capital, free from military and police occupation forces, and without settlements or settlers. They demanded an end to all support for the murderous state and its allies, the USA and the EU, which are attempting to whitewash their crimes against the Palestinian people with a fragile ceasefire agreement on Gaza. They also condemned the recent attack by the armed forces of Israel against the Global Sumud Flotilla.
Nikos Ambatielos, MP of the KKE and member of the Central Committee, attended the rally in solidarity with the Palestinian people and made the following statement:
“The KKE is firmly on the streets of struggle, together with dozens of trade unions and mass organizations of the workers’–people’s movement, shouting out loud the slogan ‘Freedom for Palestine’. We are here to oppose the despicable plans to turn Gaza into a US protectorate. We are here to demand that the Greek government stop its shameful stance of economic, political and military cooperation with the terrorist state and to finally implement the unanimous decision of the Parliament, namely to recognize the independent state of Palestine, within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
