The Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) wants to condemn the murder of Lahbib M. Abdelaziz —a member of the Polisario Front National Secretariat— and two other members of the organization in an operation carried out by the Moroccan Army. Furthermore, it wants to express its solidarity with the Sahrawi people and the legitimate struggle of the Polisario Front.

Last Sunday, June 7, the Moroccan army carried out a drone operation against a 4WD vehicle in Eastern Sahara, near the Tindouf refugee camps. Lahbib M. Abdelaziz —the son of the former General Secretary of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz— and two other members of the organization were onboard and were all killed in the attack.

This murder is another evidence of the expansionist and colonial policy carried out by the Moroccan occupation forces since 1975. Since then, the living standards of the Sahrawi people have been marked by the plundering of natural resources and the violation of human rights.

The PCTE calls on the working class in Spain to stand in solidarity with the Sahrawi people for the immediate end of occupation. At the same time, it also demands the Spanish State to officially recognize the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and assume its historical and legal responsibility as the former power administering the territory. Last, the PCTE claims the immediate end of the Moroccan occupation and the holding of a referendum for self-determination.
