More than 130 prominent scholars, writers, and public figures signed an open letter dated April 24, 2026 addressed to the UK Court of Appeal in support of individuals associated with Palestine Action, a group that -- in a profoundly anti-democratic move -- has been proscribed as a terrorist organization in the UK.

The letter simply reads: “We oppose genocide, we support Palestine Action.”

Just by doing this they are risking arrest under the Terrorism Act. In the UK, the act of expressing support for a proscribed organization can potentially lead to this.

According to Defend Our Juries, which is hosting the letter, "Sally Rooney, Greta Thunberg, and Judith Butler were among the first to put their names to the defiant declaration. They are joined by prominent artists and musicians such as Matt Black (Ninja Tune), the actor Billy Howle, Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja, Brian Eno and Nadine Shah, writers China Miéville, Lina Meruane and Tariq Ali, and political activists like Lindsey German (Stop the War) and Vijay Prashad (Tricontinental Institute)."

On the website can be found both a "Timeline of Corruption " which shows "the clear links between corporate interests in the oil & arms trades and the suppression of protest rights in the UK", and a "Timeline of a Genocide, which tracks the history of the genocide in Gaza. This exhibition was displayed outside the pre-trial hearing of the Filton 24 at a London court in June 2025, and will be displayed once again at the Royal Courts of Justice during the Home Office appeal on April 28th 2026."
