As soon as the sun's rays illuminated the monument erected to honor Cuba's National Hero in Revolution Square, an unusual uproar filled every inch of this sacred place. More than 300 delegates to the National Pioneer Assembly "64th Anniversary of the OPJM" gathered there to inaugurate this important event on June 13.
Along with them were Communist Party Political Bureau member and Organization Secretary Roberto Morales Ojeda, along with other Party, government, and Young Communist League officials.
“The Plaza de la Revolución will always be the place where the best national traditions and the most genuine human values we have learned are renewed. With the ideas of the Maestro and the achievements of the greatest pioneer, the eternal Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro, we will continue to embrace the historical continuity of the Cuban Revolution and its legacy to the world. Like our beloved Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, “with his foot in the stirrup,” we Cuban pioneers will fulfill our most sacred duty: to always study and love the Revolution,” stated Chabeli Arencibia Martell, National President of the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM).

This meeting is the culmination of the pioneer assemblies held across the country, which, according to Arencibia Martella, resulted in critical debates and the proposal of actions, strategies, and activities to be carried out going forward.
Over the course of the day, delegates will debate in committees, and tomorrow (June 14) will mark the closing of this extraordinary event, a testament to the central role played by pioneers in Cuba.
