Juan Miguel García Díaz, the head of the Office of Administration and Services of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, who is leading the delegation attending the PCP's Avante! Festival in Portugal from September 5 to 7, was welcomed by Paulo Raimundo, the General Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) in Lisbon.
During the meeting, García Díaz expressed gratitude for the longstanding solidarity and ongoing support of the PCP in the Cuban people's fight against the unlawful economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States government. He also highlighted the massive impacts of this genocidal policy on the development of the country. Additionally, he reaffirmed the commitment to further expand and strengthen interparty relations.

Paulo Raimundo emphasized the resilience of the PCC, the Cuban people, and the Revolution in the face of US imperialism's aggressive policies. He underscored the importance they place on solidarity with Cuba and agreed on the need to further strengthen the ties between the two political organizations. During the celebrations marking the centenary of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, launched on August 13 in Birán, the General Secretary highlighted the relevance of Castro's ideas and the significance of his legacy, not only for Cuba but also for people worldwide.
Representing Cuba, the Cuban ambassador to the Portuguese Republic, José Ramón Saborido Loidi, and Katia Aruca Chaple from the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee also took part. Additionally, Pedro Guerreiro, a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee and leader of the International Section, was present for the PCP.
Once the meeting was over, Juan Miguel García gave an interview to the newspaper Avante, the official organ of the PCP.
