The Communist Party of Sweden strongly condemns the United States’ continued aggression and threats against Cuba.

The Cuban people are a proud people who have the full right to choose their own path without external interference, like all other peoples. For decades, however, they have been subjected to an economic blockade, sanctions, sabotage, and political pressure, primarily from the United States. Despite this, the Cuban Revolution stands firm. Time and again, the Cuban people have shown that they will not bow to imperialist pressure.

Cuba poses no threat to the people of the United States. What provokes is not military strength or territorial ambitions, but the fact that Cuba represents an alternative. An alternative to the plunder, inequality, and exploitation of capitalism. A society that places human needs before market profits challenges the prevailing world order – that is why Cuba is punished.

The economic blockade is not merely a political gesture – it is a deliberate attempt to strangle an entire country. The United States pressures other states and companies to refrain from trading with Cuba through threats of sanctions and punitive tariffs. Access to fuel, medicines, food, and spare parts is systematically obstructed. This does not punish a government – it punishes the Cuban people.

The continuous attacks on Cuba hinder the country’s development and demonstrate how hollow the bourgeoisie’s international laws are and how lightly the principle of national sovereignty weighs in practice. The rule is that when power and capital demand it, all principles and laws are set aside.

Sweden’s communists firmly reject the United States’ attempts to subjugate the Cuban people and the progress they have made over the decades.

We therefore demand an immediate and unconditional end to the economic blockade of Cuba and for the United States to remove the country from the list of so-called “state sponsors of terrorism.”

We also express our full solidarity with the Cuban people and with the Communist Party of Cuba. We call on workers, youth, and friends of peace in Sweden and internationally to raise their voices and intensify the struggle against the blockade.

Long live the resistance of the Cuban people!

Long live socialism!
