Today marks two full years since the incarceration of cde Bonginkhosi Bongo Nkhambule, a steadfast son of the working class, loyal member of the CPS, and a committed revolutionary.
On 10 January 2024, agents of the Tinkhundla regime descended on his home area in Mbabane, abducting and arresting him for his unwavering commitment to the struggle for freedom, democracy, socialism to achieve genuine people’s power in Swaziland. His continued imprisonment is a brutal reminder of the regime’s fear of organised, conscious, and principled resistance.
The Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS) condemns in the strongest terms the politically motivated arrest and ongoing incarceration of Comrade Bongo. His detention is not an isolated act, but part of a systematic campaign of repression against revolutionaries, workers, youth, and all progressive forces challenging the absolute monarchy and its rotten Tinkhundla system. The regime criminalises dissent because it cannot defeat the ideas of freedom, democracy, and socialism that are taking root among the masses.
Comrade Bongo’s imprisonment exposes the true character of the Tinkhundla state which is an instrument of minority class domination, violence, and repression in defence of royal privilege and capitalist exploitation. While the regime jails revolutionaries, the people languish in poverty, unemployment, and landlessness.
The jails cannot silence the oppressed, instead, they harden our resolve and deepen the legitimacy of the revolutionary cause for which Comrade Bongo and many others have sacrificed their freedom.
On this solemn anniversary, the CPS reaffirms its unbreakable support for cde Bonginkhosi Bongo Nkhambule and all political prisoners. We demand his immediate and unconditional release, alongside all detained activists.
We call on workers, peasants, youth, and the international progressive movement to intensify pressure against the Tinkhundla regime. The struggle continues, repression will fail, and the people of Swaziland shall triumph.
Release cde Bongo!
Release All Political Prisoners!
Down with Tinkhundla autocracy!
Down with Imperialism!
Forward to freedom!
Forward to Democracy!
Forward to socialism!
