On Wednesday, January 28, the opening event of the 22nd Congress of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) took place at the Galatsi Olympic Hall. The keynote speech was delivered by D. Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE. This was followed by a theatrical performance of The Manifesto by Bertolt Brecht, a poetic rendition of The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.

The opening of the Congress was marked by a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere, with dozens of guests from the fields of arts, literature, culture, and sports in attendance.

In his speech, D. Koutsoumbas stressed that “the world is burning and storms are already raging around us. (...) The KKE will succeed because it is deeply rooted in the people (...) The KKE will succeed, based on its revolutionary programme and organization. It will become powerful, steadfast in every trial, ready to answer history’s call, for socialism!”

Today, Thursday, January 29, the proceedings of the 22nd Congress of the KKE continue at the headquarters of the Central Committee in Perissos, with the presentation of the Central Committee’s report to the delegates by Dimitris Koutsoumbas.

This will be followed by speeches from the delegates, as well as discussion and voting on the Resolution of the 22nd Congress. The Congress will conclude on Saturday, 31 January, with the election of the members of the new Central Committee and the Central Audit Committee of the KKE.
