Declaration of the Revolutionary Government of Cuba, translated from the Spanish
The Revolutionary Government denounces the escalation of actions by the United States government aimed at justifying military aggression against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
The build-up and expansion of military resources and forces in the Caribbean Sea, the use of force against civilian ships resulting in the death of crew members, and the unwarranted interception and detention of a vessel, in violation of international norms, highlight the hostile and irresponsible nature of the current operation.
Additionally, the United States Government spreads psychological warfare messages to justify these actions to the public, using the crude pretext that Venezuela poses a threat to U.S. national security and the well-being of its citizens.
The U.S. Secretary of State, along with like-minded congressmen and senators, who are also responsible for the current genocidal escalation in Gaza, are trying to forcefully impose their interests on Venezuela, which is both unjustifiable and dangerous.
The real objective of these actions is to take over Venezuela's oil and resources.
Cuba has repeatedly warned that the deployment in recent weeks of U.S. military forces in the Caribbean Sea constitutes an act of provocation that aims to trigger a military conflict that would force the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
A direct military attack on Venezuela would have incalculable consequences for the peace, stability, and security of Our America.
A Government cannot be allowed to resort to the threat or use of force in contravention of the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and international law.
It is crucial to separate lies from reality.
Cuba urges international mobilization to prevent aggression and preserve Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace as proclaimed by its heads of State and Government.
