Communist Party of Mexico denounces latest judicial attack on Raúl Castro

The Communist Party of Mexico denounces the judicial measures announced by the government of the State of Florida against General Raúl Castro Ruz. This new legal action is in addition to the pathetic file opened by the U.S. Department of Justice in May and is part of a campaign of aggression and intervention against the Cuban people by U.S. imperialism. Comrade Raul is a symbol of the struggle of the people of Cuba, a fighter against imperialism and for socialism. This is the reason why US imperialism is so intent on trying to tarnish his legacy.

The judicial case is being justified by the downing of two planes of the group "Brothers to the Rescue" over Cuban soil in 1996. Brothers to the Rescue was an organization linked to anti-Cuban terrorism in Miami and the CIA, which carried out illegal air raids on Cuban territory as part of a campaign of provocations led by the U.S. government.

This act of judicial theater was staged on the same day the U.S. Permanent Mission to the UN, led by Mike Waltz, held a closed-door event targeting Cuba, just days before the official vote in the UN General Assembly on the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba. Known anti-Cuban terrorists and CIA agents, such as Orlando Gutierrez Boronat, were invited to the meeting. These provocations aim to cloud the discussions at the UN and exert pressure on the General Assembly, which consistently adopts an overwhelming stance against the blockade year after year.

The Communist Party of Mexico firmly believes that the policy of aggression toward Cuba will be met with the unity of the Cuban people and their leaders, as well as the solidarity and proletarian internationalism of the working class and peoples around the world.

We reject the imperialist blockade that causes so much damage and suffering to the people and workers of Cuba.
