Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez conveyed his appreciation for Angolan President João Lourenço's powerful speech at the UN General Assembly. This acknowledgment occurred during a meeting with Mário Pinto de Andrade, a member of the MPLA's Political Bureau, where the strong connections between the Communist Party of Cuba and the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola were reaffirmed.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and Mário Pinto de Andrade, a member of the MPLA's Political Bureau and Secretary of State for Reform, Administration, and Local Government, affirmed the strong ties between the Communist Party of Cuba and the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA).


On Saturday, in a meeting that included Roberto Morales Ojeda and Emilio Lozada García, the Cuban president also extended a fraternal greeting to his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço.


The Head of State expressed gratitude to the African dignitary for delivering a powerful speech during the high-level segment of the UN General Assembly.

He also reaffirmed that this visit gives continuity to the cooperation agreement between the two parties, while highlighting the close ties that unite the two governments and peoples. In this context, he expressed Cuba's willingness to expand and strengthen those ties..


The MPLA representative expressed great satisfaction with this visit and reminisced about his initial journey to the Caribbean island in 1978. At 19, as a youth leader, he attended the World Festival of Youth and Students.


With great passion, he stated that Cuban internationalism had helped his country in achieving independence and sovereignty, along with providing unwavering support in areas like health and education.


Concerning the various activities planned in Angola for the 50th anniversary of its independence, which will be celebrated on November 11, Mário Pinto de Andrade noted that a special tribute will be given to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.
