Rio de Janeiro, December 2, 2025 -- A delegation led by the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and made up of representatives of the ICAP, FMC, CTC and the Network of Intellectuals in Defense of Humanity is participating in the BRICS People's Summit, which is being held from December 1 - 4 in Rio de Janeiro.

The event, organized by the Civil BRICS Council, the Tricontinental Institute for Social Research, ALBA Movements, and Brazil's Landless Rural Workers' Movement, gathers participants from 18 countries to discuss the geopolitical significance of BRICS and its Civil Council in today's international context. The program will concentrate on two primary themes: multipolarity and financial architecture.

On the first day, following the opening ceremony attended by various authorities, the conference titled "From Economic Cooperation to the Construction of Multipolarity" was held. In the afternoon, the panel "The new world order, hegemonic disputes and geopolitical reconfiguration" was held, in which Katia Aruca Chaple, an official of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the PCC, participated. In her speech, she emphasized that reinforcing BRICS is crucial for establishing a new fair, democratic, and equitable international order that can address multidimensional crises.. She also highlighted Cuba's active participation in various areas of that mechanism as a partner country, emphasized the need to further enhance political coordination within the BRICS, and urged for unity among leftist and progressive forces and movements.

She also described the effects of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, which was unprecedentedly intensified during Donald Trump's administration. The event offered a positive opportunity to reaffirm strong solidarity with the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the unity of its people, military, and police under President Nicolás Maduro, as well as with the Palestinian people, whose delegation was also in attendance.

In this context, the Cuban delegation held bilateral exchanges with representatives of Venezuela, China, Russia and other countries attending the People's Summit.
