No to war!

Luxembourg's communists call for an immediate end to the attacks by the US and Israel against Iran, which violate international law

In violation of all provisions of international law and the UN Charter, the USA and Israel launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran in the night before Saturday. The ongoing negotiations between the USA and Iran, in which the Iranian government repeatedly expressed its willingness to negotiate and even spoke of progress being made, were broken off on the instruction of President Donald Trump. The current political and military leadership of the USA has once again endorsed the claim by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu that Iran is working on building a nuclear weapon and thus threatening its neighbors. There is no evidence whatsoever for this false threat. Israel's leadership, the only one in the Middle East with nuclear weapons, cynically refers to the attack launched jointly with the USA as a »preemptive strike«.

In the first few hours of the attacks, which violated international law, not only government and military facilities as well as nuclear plants were targeted in Iran, but also numerous civilian targets, resulting in dozens of civilian deaths and injuries, including many children.

Both the President of the United States and the Israeli Prime Minister, who has been designated by the International Criminal Court as a suspect in genocide, have clearly stated in their public appearances that the massive military attacks are aimed at »regime change« in Iran. In view of developments in Iran and the additional interference of the self-proclaimed heir to the throne, Pahlavi, such action can only lead to complete chaos in Iran and an escalation of the situation in the region, the further course of which is unpredictable. The military intervention by the USA and NATO in Iraq, Libya, and Syria in support of »regime change« has made it clear to the whole world that this has not made the situation in the region safer, but even more dangerous.

The Communist Party of Luxembourg strongly condemns the aggression of the USA and Israel against Iran and calls for an immediate end to the attacks. The KPL calls on the Luxembourg government to use all available forums within the UN, NATO, and the European Union to clearly advocate for an end to the attacks and the resumption of talks with Iran, which were unilaterally broken off by the US government, and to clearly distance itself from claims that Iran poses a threat. In addition, the KPL calls on the Luxembourg government to cease all political, military, financial, and economic contacts with the Israeli government and military.

The Communist Party of Ireland condemns the attack on Iran by the US and Israel. This unprovoked attack took place while the US and Iran were engaged in ongoing negotiations and just a few hours after the Omani negotiator in talks between the US and Iran stated that the Iranians had agreed to major concessions to resolve outstanding differences between both states.

This aggressive attack on Iran has the potential to spiral out of control to spread and engulf the whole region. US imperialism and its zionist allies see the government of Iran as the last remaining obstacle to the imposition of their regional strategy to subdue the Palestinian people, fragment Iran as they did with Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and secure the subservient Arab states, and to end any expressions of sovereignty and independent action by the peoples in the region.

All this while the US ignores the actual existing 200 plus nuclear weapons stockpiled by the zionist regime, weapons it holds over the Arab peoples and nations of the region like a Sword of Damocles.

It is clear that if they succeed in "regime change" it may well not be replaced by a progressive, anti-imperialist government but rather by a subservient regime. They wish to break up Iran into a number of smaller ethnic states so that it will no longer be an obstacle to US dominance and Zionist expansion. Defeating Iran will open up a new front for US aggression against the People’s Republic of China.

Now is not the time for adopting “a plague on both your houses” attitude. Defeat for Iran strengthens US imperialism and leads us closer to World War III. It is time for all democratic and progressive forces, within Iran, the region and worldwide, to condemn this violation of Iranian sovereignty and rally to the defence of Iran.

The Irish government must roundly condemn these military actions by the US and Israel and demand an immediate ceasefire.

We express solidarity with the Iranian people and all those revolutionary forces who continue to resist imperialism and zionism.

Stop the war of aggression against Iran!

The German Communist Party (DKP) condemns the military attacks by Israel and the US on civilian and military targets in various regions of Iran and stands in solidarity with the attacked country.

This assault violates international law and torpedoes the nuclear negotiations with Iran. According to its own statements, the German federal government was informed in advance about the military actions and, due to its inaction, bears joint responsibility for this dangerous escalation. Meanwhile, Iran is carrying out counterstrikes against the US military, for example in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain, as well as against Israel, and is mobilizing its troops against a possible US ground invasion. The danger of further military escalation is great.

The aggressive actions of the Trump and Netanyahu war governments and the de facto support of Chancellor Merz are incompatible with the principles of international law and a peaceful foreign policy for the good of our country. Representatives of the German government justify their support for the plan to overthrow the government in Tehran with the so-called Staatsräson (“reason of state”). This turns the lessons learned from two world wars and Europe's liberation from Hitler's fascism on its head. Diplomacy and cooperation within the framework of the United Nations are not possible in this way.

The escalation against Iran that began today has been announced and prepared for months. Israel's military action is the result of coordination with the NATO spearhead, the USA. These imperialist centers behave like robbers toward their opponents and toward international law, proving that their words are worthless in negotiations. The reaction of the German federal government is to be condemned, because it is siding with the aggressors, while other governments are demanding compliance with international law.

The DKP calls on the workers' and peace movements to protest against the federal government's support for the war against Iran and demands the withdrawal of all US troops from Germany. We say to the federal government: Your Staatsräson without us!

The Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) expresses its strong condemn to the military assault jointly started by the United States and Israel against different locations on Iranian territory. This is a new escalation that seriously increases the risk of a war with a generalized nature.

On Saturday night, the United States and Israel bombed dozens of targets, including political and military leaders of the Islamic Republic. The goal declared by the Israeli Prime Minister himself was to promote a change of regime. The bombardments have already caused more than 200 mortal victims — Ayatollah Ali Jamenei among them. Iran responded with attacks against Israel and US military bases located in several Middle Eastern countries. The justifications put forward by Trump and Netanyahu —arguing about preventing Iran to develop nuclear arms or calling to allegedly pacification purposes— are concealing the strategic and economic interests of big companies and monopolies that are disputing the control of energy resources, trade routes, and key military positions in the region.

These facts cannot be understood as an isolated episode. They are framed within the process of clash between powers and blocs being carried out for decades, which has been intensified since October 2023. Their goal is the consolidation of the dominance of the Western bloc in a highly relevant geostrategic region.

Once again, this offensive answers to the need to ensure the interests of the bourgeoisies involved and the spread of their influence in a strategic area, wealthy in natural resources, transport routes, and labor power — even at the expense of the serious consequences for the peoples in the region.

The PCTE warns about the results that such sharpening of inter-imperialist clashed could have in our own territory and the security of the population in Spain. Iran has announced that the military bases that provide logistic support to this Israeli-US aggression could be a target for their response. Thus, the US bases in our country could put the integrity of the Spanish people into a risk. In this context, the USS Roosevelt and USS Bulkeley anti-missile destroyers —deployed in the Naval Station Rota (Cádiz) have participated in the operation by reinforcing the Israeli anti-missile shield, which evidences the direct involvement of Spanish territory in this escalation.

The PCTE calls on the working class and the popular strata to mobilize against the rearming policies, against the use of Spanish territory for imperialist military purposes, and against any aggression against other peoples. Furthermore, it demands the Government of Spain to put an end to the leasing of military bases in Spanish territory to the USA.

The Socialist Workers' Party of Croatia SRP strongly condemns the joint military attack of the United States and Israel on the sovereign country of Iran, which began on February 28, 2026.

We consider this act a brutal continuation of imperialist policy directed against the independent countries of the South.

This attack, which Israeli officials cynically called a "preventive operation", and US President Donald Trump called it "major combat operations" and "Epic rage", represents a shameless violation of the Charter of the United Nations and the most basic norms of international law, but also a mockery of the recently formed so-called "Peace Committee". Although we are not happy with the government structure in Iran. The SRP expresses solidarity with the working class and people of Iran, who are once again paying the price for their country's refusal to bow to the dictates of Western imperialism.

This aggression constitutes a direct attack on the territorial integrity and independence of Iran, denying its people the right to their own independent development without foreign interference. The attack, launched without the authorization of the United Nations Security Council, exposes the contempt of the United States and Israel for multilateral institutions, repeating the same crime as the disastrous invasion of Iraq in 2003. The pretext of a “preemptive” strike against a non-existent nuclear threat is a wasted and dangerous justification for aggression, which only serves to perpetuate endless wars while ignoring Israel’s undeclared nuclear arsenal and the vast stockpiles of nuclear weapons by the United States.

Furthermore, this attack is not an isolated incident, but part of a clear pattern of US-Israeli aggression against countries in the Middle East, including the “12-day war” in June 2025. The goal of this attack is not security, but the destabilization of any state that opposes imperial hegemony.

This attack is part of a wider imperialist front, which also includes continued support for Israeli colonialism and apartheid against the Palestinian people. It is necessary to firmly resist all forms of oppression and stand up for the right of all peoples to self-determination.

We must also condemn the long-standing imperialist economic war waged against Iran through economic sanctions, illegal blockades and relentless political pressure. These measures of collective punishment against the Iranian people deliberately deprived the population of access to food, medicine and other basic necessities with the aim of stifling the Iranian economy. SRP condemns this hypocritical policy that produces human suffering for geopolitical gain and exposes the lie that sanctions are a peaceful alternative to war. Sanctions are war by other means, directed against the most vulnerable, while the perpetrators of this brutality profit from the crises they cause.

This war serves the interests of the military-industrial complex and the geopolitical strategy of the NATO pact, not the working people of the United States, Israel, or Iran. Resources spent on destruction have been taken away from the health, education and social welfare of countries around the world.

The Socialist Workers' Party of Croatia calls on the working class and all progressive forces in Croatia, Europe and the world to raise their voices in demonstrating their opposition. We demand an immediate halt to the aggression and the withdrawal of all aggressor forces. We call on the government of the Republic of Croatia to officially condemn this attack and to cease all forms of military and logistical cooperation with the aggressor states. Furthermore, we demand the immediate lifting of all illegal sanctions and blockades imposed on the Iranian people.

The only path to a just and lasting peace is the end of the imperialist system and the creation of changes in the world that will enable the self-determination of peoples, workers' democracy and international solidarity.

Socialist Workers' Party of Croatia SRP

American and Israeli missiles are once again raining down on the Iranian people, and the Iranian government has already responded with attacks on American bases in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. The contradictions in the region are becoming ever sharper, and the US-Israeli attacks are a dangerous step in an escalating spiral of military confrontation that threatens to plunge the entire region into a large-scale war. This is a frightening development, particularly for the Iranian people and for the working people throughout the region, who will inevitably be caught between the warring blocs fighting for supremacy and power in the area.

The Middle East has long constituted a crossroads where imperialist interests have clashed, which in recent decades has exacted a heavy toll on the peoples of Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, who have paid dearly in blood. The Middle East contains not only natural resources, but also geostrategic strongholds, extremely important transport routes, and other assets that attract international and regional actors seeking to strengthen their positions in the region.

This is also what the latest attack on Iran represents: Israel and the United States striking at their competitors, just as they have already done in, among other places, Syria and Iraq. In the same way, Iran has sought, and continues to seek, to expand its own influence, including by sponsoring paramilitaries and rebels in various parts of the region.

For the people, this means nothing but suffering, and choosing one actor over the other is choosing the plague over cholera. Israeli and American bombs fall on behalf of their respective countries’ capital, and the Iranian response is made on behalf of Iranian capital. The people are stuck in the middle, and in the struggle between capitals, workers are forced to kill workers.

Swedish politicians from both the government and the so-called opposition call, with barely concealed enthusiasm, for “restraint,” while unilaterally placing the blame on the Iranian regime and in practice aligning themselves with the line of the United States and Israel. This hypocrisy is telling. The same forces that speak of international law and peace when it suits their geopolitical interests fall silent or relativize matters when their allies violate those same principles.

The Communist Party of Sweden rejects this one-sided propaganda. We condemn all imperialist aggression and every act that drives the region closer to a major war. We categorically condemn every attack on another country’s people. The bombs now falling over Tehran and other Iranian cities are a crime against the Iranian people, just as the bullets of the Iranian military, which earlier this year killed thousands of demonstrators, were also a crime against that same people.

The Communists refuse to choose the lesser of two evils, and we refuse to defend the governments of capital, in whatever form they may appear. At the same time, we condemn every attempt by one country to impose its will on another, which only sharpens contradictions and increases the risk of a generalized war.

Instead, we emphasize that only the people of each country have the right to determine their own path forward. This path must be characterized by independence from every imperialist power. Only through international solidarity, struggle against imperialism, and opposition to the war policies of their own ruling classes can the people achieve a real and lasting peace.

It is high time to raise our voices against the warmongering. Sweden must not contribute to military escalation, arms exports, or political support for imperialist adventures. We stand in solidarity with the Iranian people and condemn every attempt to impose upon them an order that would only push them deeper into the abyss of exploitation.

The Communist Party of Sweden
