The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) reports that on Monday 23 June, tens of thousands of workers, young people and pensioners gathered in Syntagma Square in Athens and marched to the US embassy responding to a call by the All Workers’ Militant Front (PAME) and other mass organizations.

"The mass demonstration was a resounding response of the people to the escalation of imperialist war following the US attack on Iran and sent a clear message to the government that it has no legitimacy to support the slaughter of other peoples or drag the Greek people to the slaughterhouse," the KKE said in a statement.

Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE, attended the demonstration and told the media: “The US attacks on Iran are a step towards escalating imperialist war throughout the world. That is why we must be alert, rise up, and not trust the government that is stepping up war preparations and deepening our country’s involvement in the war. All bases of death must be closed now. All military cooperation with the murderous state of Israel must cease. The frigates and warships must be withdrawn from the war zone. We stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine and all the peoples of the region.”
