Solidarity statements for the 64th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution from the Communist parties of Ireland, Greece, Turkey and the Netherlands.
January 1 was the 64th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. Cuba remains a beacon of hope for a different future despite the relentless attacks on the Cuban people by the US government and its imperialist allies.
Nations and parties around the world expressed their solidarity with Cuba on the anniversary. We have already featured a statement from the Communist Party of Chile. Here we have solidarity statements from the Communist parties of Ireland, Greece, Turkey and the Netherlands as well as greetings from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
FRATERNAL GREETINGS ON THE 64TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CUBAN REVOLUTION
Dear Comrades,
The Communist Party of Ireland sends fraternal greetings to you on the 64th anniversary of the Cuban revolution.
The past number of years have undoubtedly been extremely difficult for the working-class throughout the world during the COVID pandemic, and more acutely so in Cuba, with the added pressures as a result of the criminal US blockade.
Notwithstanding these challenges, the Partido Comunista de Cuba has continued to defy an imperial superpower against all odds and persists in building a socialist state with the people and for the people. The adoption of the new Family Code is testament to the commitment of the state to ensuring a highly functioning democratic process, unparalleled in “Western democracies”.
It was with great admiration that we saw the Henry Reeve Brigade deliver life-saving medical support to countries in dire need through the darkest days of 2020. The compassion, generosity and spirit of internationalism that is symbolised in the work of the Henry Reeve Brigade, reflecting the best characteristics of the revolutionary people of Cuba, is what we as communists aspire to.
The Communist Party of Ireland will continue to demand an end to the illegal US blockade and for the self-determination of the Cuban people to live in peace and dignity. Our people share a history of struggle against colonialism and imperialism, one that we will continue to fight alongside our comrades in Cuba.
¡Venceremos!
In solidarity,
Graham Harrington
International Secretary
Dear comrades,
On the 64th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, one of the brightest pages of the history of humanity, we salute you with our most sincere feelings of fraternity and militancy.
During all those years, and against all the attempts to annihilate, suffocate or kneel down the Cuban Revolution, the honorable people of Cuba are holding strong to their values of equality, fraternity and justice, without compromising a single bit of their human quality. The Cuban Revolution represents a horizon in the name of establishing a new human being with a different set of moral values, free from hypocrisy and egocentrism, and a new society free from exploitation. The concrete outcomes of these continuous revolutionary efforts can be clearly observed in the achievements of socialism, in all aspects of life, political participation, education, culture, science, and so forth. In the simplest of terms, Revolution means a job for all, a right to life in dignity for all, and a future for all. This deserves great respect from the rest of the world.
We hope that our common work throughout this year, including the organization International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties, has been a modest example of our solidarity and our will to contribute to the advancement of the values of the Cuban Revolution.
With the aim of deepening our long-standing collaboration, we wish all comrades a happy and healthy new year.
¡Patria o Muerte, Venceremos!

Dear comrades,
On the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the victory of the Cuban Revolution, on 1 January 1959, the KKE extends a warm comradely greeting to the Communist Party and the people of Cuba.
The Cuban Revolution has been a timeless source of inspiration for the struggle of the oppressed and exploited throughout the world, and has shown that the peoples, through their struggle, have the power to overthrow capitalist barbarity.
The first socialist revolution on the American continent was one of the major events that marked the 20th century. It confirmed the vitality of Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism. It added personalities such as Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Camilo Cienfuegos, Raúl Castro, Vilma Espin, Frank País and many others to the pantheon of the militants of the working class and revolutionary movement.
Workers’ power has managed to victoriously repulse the attempts of counter-revolution and imperialist aggression and has laid the foundations for the meeting of popular needs, for social rights that the humble and despised on your continent are deprived of. Based on internationalism, it supported the liberation movements of other peoples with selflessness and sacrifice.
Dear comrades,
Today, when the Biden administration maintains and tightens the measures of the barbaric blockade against Cuba and escalates aggressive actions aimed at overthrowing the power and achievements of the Cuban people, it is imperative to strengthen internationalist solidarity with the Cuban Revolution and the Cuban people. All the more so under the current circumstances, when Cuba is facing the devastating effects of Hurricane Ian that has hit the electricity infrastructure, houses, and crops in the western provinces of the country. The KKE supports the demand for the lifting, even temporarily, of the blockade measures, which will enable Cuba to repair the extensive damage more quickly.
The KKE and KNE will continue condemning the criminal blockade of Cuba by the USA and any aggressive undermining action with all their might. They will further strengthen their practical internationalist solidarity with the CC and the people of Cuba for the end of the imperialist blockade and any kind of interference in the internal affairs of Cuba.

Dear comrades,
The NCPN sends its dearest greetings to the PCC on the occasion of the 64th birthday of the glorious victory of the Cuban revolution.
On the first of January 1959 the bourgeoisie of Cuba andof the whole world werestunned by one of the greatest popular mobilisations the world has ever seen. The triumph of the Cuban revolution, lead by Fidel Castro, Raul Castro, Che Guevara, Camilo Cienfuegos and many others, has inspired and keeps inspiring the peoples of the world.
Socialist Cuba has achieved many of the greatest deeds humanity has seen. The socialist government has created the conditions to offer a life with dignity to the great majority of its population. By presenting free education, free access to food, free and high quality healthcare, eradicating illiteracy and giving access to culture, sport, art and literature. Thanks to the socialist revolution, Cuba is today a democratic, independent and sovereign socialist state. It promotes welfare to all of its citizens.
During the pandemic, the great achievements of Socialist Cuba were presented to the world. By being the only Latin American country that produced its own vaccine against Covid-19 and by exporting professionals of the health sector to the world. The health care is justly one of many prides of the Cuban nation. Because of the criminal blockade imposed by the United States, that Cuba has endured for more than 60 years, the potential of its economy and of its health care system is hindered. We call on the workers of the world to unite in solidarity with the people of Cuba against the blockade. Our donation campaign that was realised during the pandemic raised thousands of euros that were converted in medical equipment that was sent to Cuba. This proves that the Dutch working class stands together with the Cuban people against the blockade.
The Cuban socialist government and the PCC are an example of proletarian international solidarity with the whole world. The victory of the Cuban revolution has united and will keep uniting the international communist movement in solidarity, against imperialist aggression, against capitalist exploitation and for freedom, socialism and democracy.
The NCPN is certain that Socialist Cuba, the people of Cuba and the Cuban revolution will be victorious, against the blockade and against imperialism. Each first of January the world is once again is reminded of the triumph of the Cuban people against exploitation. We are certain that this victory will keep inspiring the working class to fight for a better world, a socialist society.
