The Sahara Press Service reports that on October 26, 2026, Hafdella Sheddad, the Polisario Front’s representative in Chile, met with Lautaro Carmona, president of the Communist Party of Chile, at the party’s headquarters in Santiago. The meeting also included members of the party’s youth wing and Claudio Dingre, who oversees international relations for the party.

According to the report, the discussion centered on recent political and diplomatic developments concerning Western Sahara, particularly the implications of the Chilean government’s declared support for Morocco’s alleged sovereignty over the territory. The Polisario Front advocates for Sahrawi self‑determination and independence.

The report noted that Hafdella Sheddad praised the Chilean Communist Party and its youth wing for their consistent support for the Sahrawi people’s legitimate struggle and their public opposition to the Chilean government’s policy shift.
