Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo, a member of the Secretariat and head of the Economic and Productive Department of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), led a virtual meeting with Nguyen Thanh Nghi, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and head of its Policy and Strategy Commission.
The theme agreed upon for this exchange was "The role of the Party in macroeconomic stabilization, productive transformation and international insertion." This event is a component of the theoretical exchange initiated between the PCC and the CPV, based on the Exchange and Cooperation Agreement signed by the two party organizations in September 2004.
The meeting will allow for the sharing of experiences on issues of mutual interest. Through this event, both parties affirm the commitment of the current leadership in both countries to uphold the lasting legacy of bilateral relations forged by leaders Fidel Castro, Raul Castro, and Ho Chi Minh.
The head of the CPV Policy and Strategy Commission was accompanied by leaders of the Ministry of Finance and Foreign Affairs, as well as the Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long.
Representing Cuba were Carlos César Torres Páez, a member of the PCC's Central Committee and president of its Economic Commission; Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, the Cuban ambassador to Vietnam; Santiago Burey Pérez, deputy head of the Department; Ayuban Gutiérrez Quintanilla, a member of the Economic Commission and first vice-president of ANEC; along with other officials from the auxiliary structure of the PCC's Central Committee.
