"We welcome this visit with a sense of great satisfaction during this challenging period brought on by the blockade and energy siege imposed by the United States, which has impacted our economic, social, and family life," said Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez during a meeting at the Palace of the Revolution with the Secretary General of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), Moussa Batraki, who was an official visit to Cuba.
The President emphasized the sense of friendship and support that comes with this visit, making it even more meaningful in a context where the United States applies pressure and blackmail to prevent any connection with Cuba, as part of its economic isolation strategy.

The Head of State expressed gratitude for the strong support from the majority of OACPS members for the Cuban Resolution opposing the blockade, which was recently approved by the United Nations.
Díaz-Canel reaffirmed to the visitor Cuba’s commitment to supporting the OACPS: "We are committed to the programs that you are promoting and to the efforts to mobilize all forces in favor of sustainable development, in the face of inequality, poverty and climate change, and also in the defense of the founding principles of the organization, in particular the principles of cooperation, which coincide with those of the Cuban Revolution."

The Secretary General of the OACPS, Moussa Batraki, conveyed the greetings of the rest of the 78 members that make up the organization he leads, who "without a shadow of a doubt support Cuba."
He then emphasized: "We have to congratulate the Government and the people of Cuba for their resilience, for their ability to reinvent themselves and for the resistance they have been able to demonstrate."

During the friendly meeting, the distinguished visitor said: "It is an honor to be here with you, because it is in difficult times that you know who your true friends are."
Moussa Batraki arrived on October 28 and his official visit lasted until the 31st. While in Havana, the Secretary General of the OACPS carried out a busy work schedule, meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Visits to Cuban scientific and health centers and the headquarters of the National Assembly of People's Power were also planned.
