Nicaragua files application against Germany at the ICJ for aiding the genocide in Gaza

Nicaragua has officially filed a case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Germany. The accusation centers around Germany’s actions related to Israel and the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Here are the key points:

Genocide Allegations: Nicaragua accuses Germany of facilitating genocide in the Gaza Strip over the past five months. Germany has provided financial, military, and political support to Israel during this time.

UNRWA Defunding: Germany halted contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). This decision came in response to unverified Israeli allegations against a very small number of UNRWA employees.

Violation of Genocide Convention: Nicaragua argues that Germany "has not only failed to fulfill its obligation to prevent the genocide committed and being committed against the Palestinian people... but has contributed to the commission of genocide in violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide."

Nicaragua joins South Africa in pushing for the ICJ to hold Germany and Israel accountable.
